Sutherland Chan Alumni Association
In the winter of 1997 Grace Chan, along with a group of enthusiastic S-C alumni, gathered to form the Alumni Association. The first task was to establish a mission statement and a set of goals. This was accomplished after conducting a survey of our grads.

Mission Statement

The Sutherland-Chan Alumni Association (SCAA) is a not-for-profit organization including Sutherland-Chan and Honorary Alumni, committed to advancing the massage therapy profession through leadership, advocacy, research, education and communication.

Goals

  • To promote the career success of Sutherland-Chan graduates
  • To promote massage therapy to the public and to health care professionals
  • To encourage the continuous professional development of Sutherland-Chan graduates as leaders in the field
  • To advance massage therapy research
  • To positively influence the future direction of the profession
  • To generate dialogue, communication, hope, excitement, connectedness, and a sense of community
In the last four years alumni have enjoyed reunion parties, open houses, speakers panels, and of course our quarterly meetings held at the school. The meetings often include the sharing of news, massage, and specialty techniques, as well as supporting each other in our careers in any way we can. Also at these meetings generating ideas for and organization of upcoming events takes place.

SCAA runs much like a club. Membership is $30.00 annually. Benefits include a 15% discount toward ConEd courses, the use of the school library, and the benefits of sharing and working with other alumni.
