Why to Choose Sutherland-Chan.

Our practical program, providing a wide variety of clinical experiences

In order for you to make the transition from being a student to becoming a well-rounded health care professional with autonomous clinical judgment, we believe your education must include not only academic learning, but also broad-based clinical experience. At Sutherland-Chan we pride ourselves on the quality of our clinical education. Starting in the second term of the program, students are involved in the assessment and treatment of diverse and progressively more complex cases in supervised situations. This occurs in Student Clinic, and in the second year of the program in Outreach, which involves participation in a number of different clinics typically located in hospitals or other settings away from the school.

The clients you will encounter during your time as a student will at minimum include: people who are well but in need of relaxation, people who have suffered traumatic injuries, athletes, and people who are medically compromised by conditions such as Parkinson's, multiple sclerosis, diabetes and stroke. In the final term of the program there is also an opportunity to take elective clinics, which provide experience in working with, for example, infants, dancers, and even racehorses, the latter in the equine massage course.

We believe that our academic courses combined with the clinical education we provide result in a program that is second to none. Our mission is to deliver an integrated educational experience that will serve you well in the real world of clinical practice.
